Hi,

Have a weird issue. I have a Mitel 3300 integrated with a siemens and Alcatel.

Mitel hosts Telco lines and the Alcatel and Siemens are behind the mitel in both instances.

issue is that some external numbers can't be dialed by analogue extensions on the Alcatel and Siemens phones but can be dialed by digital extensions on both phones. anyone ever heard of this?

the numbers being dialed are fine. can be dialed from Mitel phones no problem. siemens guys are saying it's a timer issue. not sure what timers as there's nothing to set on the Mitel

sorry.. yes Qsig on the Siemens and normal ISDN on the Alcatel.

Are you familiar with the CCS Trace commands in the Mitel? (It's there in the Help Screen). I would try enabling CCS trace and then watching to see what's coming across from the other switch when a dialing attempt is made.

ccs trace shows the digits for the failed call the same as for a successful call - what I mean by this is that the digits are are code plus the rest of the number.

nothing really out of place..

Try adding a 5 second pause in ARS on the Mitel. If this works then try and reduce this time.

you mean use a T<01> in digit mod to put in a pause??
thanks for the reply

Can't see how a pause could possibly make a difference. If the issue was with all set types, maybe, but only analog sets, dont think so.

Also the pause before dialing is usually only an issue when dialing out on Analog trunks. This is digital to digital trunking and pausing would be a waste of time (Literally).

The CCS Trace number being the same regardless of device type is very confusing. I expected something different. By the time the Mitel is engaged and the CCS trace initiated, the originating set type is pretty much meaningless.

I think you need to analyse the CCS trace for differences between a successful call using a digital set and an unsuccessful call using analog both dialing the same number.
There MUST be a difference. Calling Name? Calling Number?

Back in the day when Mitel first began conducting CCS Trace Training for their 3rd line product support folks, I somehow wound up with a photocopy of one of the training manuals. The trainer's name under the course title says Raddi Shatob (whom I've never heard of). It just sort of mysteriously arrived in the mail one day about 6 or 7 years ago with no return address, but had US postage on the envelope, not Canadian. I have not a clue who would have sent it to me.

Anyway it seems like there's more info in there than is available in the 3300 'help' screen. Seems like a useful tool. Wonder if it'd be worthwhile to scan that thing into a PDF file? (or is it already available somewhere?)

would this be the same manual that gives examples of calls and basically dissect them, explaining all the values.

date: Issue 1 - 21 March, 2003??

if not could I have a copy of yours and you can have a copy of mine?

Never mind. I was confused. Looks like the same document you have, just an earlier (rougher) version dated Dec 3,1999 - Also the name of the trainer on the class handout is Larry Arnold, not Raddi Shatoub. (the mind plays tricks on you when you get old and after you've had a couple glasses of Maker's Mark) ;-)

The 21 Mar 03 document looks to be the same material & the newer document is better organized.

Obviously this is still being taught. (??) Who is eligible to take the training?

not sure. i got the doc from someone i don't even recall who.
