Intercom NT8B79FA

I have an intercom NT8B79FA connected to a DOC. The problem is that the intercom is located in a noisy area. Often you can't hear a thing that comes out of the intercom. Is there an intercom model that has a handset that you could put up to your ear with a volume control, or do I have to put a phone there to use instead of the intercom.
