We are experiencing a situation where the intercom keys are not working on our remote IP phones, they simply get rings but silence when they pickup the handset. Remote IP to remote IP.

We can reach without any problem all local IP or digital phones connected to the BCM50 locally.

Any hints anyone??? Would it be related to my VPN setup...

Our setup is;

BCM50 3.0 - VPN CISCO RVS4000

---INTERNET---

VPN CISCO RVS4000 - IP1140e

It sounds like it may be a network problem.

When a call is made between two IP phones, the phones directly communicate with each other over the network; bypassing the BCM (they still use the BCM for signaling while the call is active).

This means, if you have two remote sites, those two remote sites need to be able to pass data for each other for a call to work.

Have you tried Pinging one of the IP phones from the other and seeing if you have a response?

I had a simular issue and it was a firewall on the customer network that was causing it.

Do you have the Default Gateway set on both the BCM & the I.P. phones.

If the 1140E are on two different remote locations (i.e. two different VPN tunnels), then you also need to allow routing between those two tunnels.
