Hello, I am trying to get used to Avaya's short codes so sorry for all the questions. I would like to put a soft key on everyones phone to page a person's intercom. I would like to hit a soft key then the persons extension to page them. I put the following codes in the action field (#,Nxxx,?,xxx) and when you hit the button it just gives a tone.
 

You have 2 choices:

A) Make a simple short code #XXX/DialPaging/N
You will be allowed to dial, I mean, #230 to page extn230

B) Store the feature "DIAL PAGING" on a softkey, but you will have to press it BEFORE the extension you need to page in.

You asked how to page, not "Voice Call" (Nortel language). :p
 
The 'page' function is to page them like a tannoy and not designed for two way speech, just ring them if you want that!!
 
You are exactly right, I did. Sometimes I get the language's confused. I am just getting in to the ip world. Thanks for your help.
 
you can also use dial direct to do 2 way speech. i use it all the time. even work accross the network if you have SCN
 
Internal Auto Answer can be put on the users buttons. It's the Hands free answer on IPO. They can toggle it on and off incase they are in a meeting.

If when somebody does a page, if that person being paged wants to answer the call just press the conference button to pick it up!

The problem with the "auto intercom" is that I want to use it for different extensions without having to use a soft key for every person. Basically what I want to accomplish is 1 soft key on every phone that a user presses with a extension number that will allow 2 way communication without the receiving end having to pick up the phone.
 
You are a bit picky aint ya.

If you gave one button to each user for auto intercom you could achieve exactly what you want.

I beleieve there is a telepathy module coming where by you dont even need to move, just think.

Did you not read my post. You can use a dial direct button. Put dial direct on there with no action data and then you press the button and dial the extension number. Then you come accross onthe speaker and they can talk back. am i missing something here.
 
It is possible with the Panasonic KX-TD and they are upgrading to IP. Granted they have a lot more buttons on the Panasonic. It is hard to tell someone that has been using a system for a while that they can not do something especially when I come in with the "latest and greatest"
 
Kwing, I tried that. It rings the other extension, they have to pick it up. I am probably doing something wrong. I have Action=dial.....Action Data (blank).
 
Well, they could have the Internal Auto Answer as suggested above or hit their speaker button. It's only one button per phone, not one for each user that they want to talk to. (the same as the HFAI/MIC on a partner or merlin phone)

Program a system short code for dial intercom such as
#XXX/DialIntercom/N

users will dial # extension number of the person they want to intecom

the user they are calling would need to have the Internal Auto Answer button and have it turned on

QAin't gonna happen without internal auto answer turned on at each phone. However, if you put a dial intercom key with blank action data or set a short code, you could then press it + the user ext to get close to what you want. it is a two button process but it works.
 
This may be a stupid question but how do you turn on the internal auto answer? Is it in the phone or manager? They are 5410's
 
you can give it a button on the phone so the user can control the feature. When on, the phone will ring one time and then open the speaker and mike on internal calls.
 
The feature is dial direct. Go under advanced then dial then dial direct. No ation data just an action of dial direct. as long as they are not on the phone it will come up on the speaker.
 
Ive not noticed what phones your using?

If your using 5402/2402/5602/6402 they are not full duplex speaker phones so you will not be able to talk back.
