Intercom Distinctive Ring

HI,
I have a requirement and have gone through the forum for any similar posts, but not direct answers..
My requirement is -- i need an auto intercom feature which will the particular programmed extension... but no auto answer...
the called party or destitaion extension should get a different ring so that the user understands its a intercom call...ive
i dont want the call appearance also or forward etc...
just a distinctive tone when the boss calls ....to be more specific...

have tried -- to disable the auto ring on from handset to headset...
i need to just get the distinctive ring....

What flavor of phone? 14xx and 16xx phones will allow you to change tone on the phone, but override the ring tone for hunt group calls or on the ICR
 
What type of phones do you have.

Distinctive ring only works on 1416,1408,16xx
Does not work on 96xx IP phones

By the way what do YOU mean by auto intercom..

For me it's a way to do a page to one user and for the call to be presented over the speaker of the phone.

If you mean for the Boss to press a user button to ring the secretary then it's a standard user appearance button.

Or

Create a hunt group with the secretary the only member.
Set the ringtone override for the group to another sound.

On the Boss phone set up a dial button with the Huntgroup extn number.

On the user set up a group appearance button which will flash when it's called and will also have the distinctive ring of the group..

thanks for the replies, actually the calling party phone is 1608 and called party phone is 9650.
both these phones were registered on Avaya CM.
Now have moved them to IP office.. the were using auto intercom from CM.

well i will try the option of grouping ..and will update..

sorry its not working... i guess in manual its mentioned this can happen only on 14XX and 95XX phones..
or maybe i need to enable something else?? kindly advice...
 
It doesn't work by calling the user.
You cannot assign ringtones to a different user just for a different incoming number or group so you have to make a group and then assign a different ringtone to it but the 9650 cannot do it as previously mentioned.

Add an analog station into the mix. On the analog station, connect a ringer with unique sound, and position it near the target's IP telephone. Put analog station and target user into a hunt group configured as collective ring. Configure boss to call hunt group. When boss calls hunt group, both the original target AND the analog station with unique ringer will ring. Recipient will know it's the boss. I know that it's hokey, but if it's that important, this will certainly work.

With 14xx and 16xx sets, I add Classic tone 1 to the list of alternate ring tones
Set the phone to use Ring Tone 2
Override incoming calls to use Classic Tone 1, either on the Incoming Call Route or on the Hunt Group

Internal calls are a single long ring, but the last 1/2 of the ring is a raised tone, higher pitch

Outside calls are a short ring, a short silence, and a long ring, but the ring tone is all the same trhoughout.

yes @forrence..its required for the boss and secretary...well I was just thinking of adding an attractive phone like a vantage phone to the secretary , just to make her happy,,,then offcourse she already has two phones next to her and this would be the third.. hope she agrees....otherwise doomed...
