Intercept Windows Logout or Shutdown?

Is it possible to intercept a Windows logout or shutdown using Vbscript.

I want to automate a logout task, so if I have a vbscript which runs at LOGON, it could run in the background and look for a windows event such as logout and shutdown and run another vbscript.

Is it possible with vbscript?

You can define a logout script in group policy.

The PCs are not in a domain, and if I wanted to use local gpedit.msc I would not have posted on here.

Just need a scripting method to run a vbscript in the background to monitor for a shutdown and logoff, when intercepted, I need it to run another vbscript.

have a look at WMI event notification and subscriptions to those events, blocked method call or async
