Intercept Voice Mail

Customer wants to be able to intercept a caller while they are leaving a message from them in their VMB.

For example. Customer is on a call while their ext. is ringing but they miss the call after 4 rings. The caller is hearing the VM message and the ext. user wants to be able to push a button and interecept the call before the caller hangs up.

Within Nortel we call this INTERCEPT VOICE MAIL.

Can this be done iwth Parter Messaging?

Make sure the voicemail extensions do not have privacy on them. Without privacy, if the call goes to voicemail, just press the button the call came in on and it will grab it back out of voicemail. The caller will hear the voicemail say "goodbye" is the only bad part.

Partner (R3 and above) has a feature called "Call Screening". It is turned on/off by pressing a button on the phone. It allows the ext user to listen to a caller leaving a message in their mailbox. The ext user can intercept the screened call by going off hook. This causes the voice mail to drop the call and they will be connected to the caller - similar to home answering machines.

Call Screening works if you are not on a call. The issue is with the description above, the user is on a call and another call comes in. Call Screening is ignored if you are on a call.
