Interbase Server 100%

I have a problem with Interbase. Unfortunately I can't find a solution. Here is the case :

I have running mupliple series of Windows 2000 servers with Interbase 7.1 installed. On these servers several database applications run 24 hours a day. Echh application is using Interbase databases.

Now the following situation occurs :

Every now and then Interbase Server raises up to 100% and stays there. I can't get the Interbase Server down.

This sometimes happens when people are working, sometimes on a sunday morning when there are no users at all !!

What could explain this Interbase behavour ?

Is a it 'hardware'-problem or a 'softwarr-problem'?

Is is some sort of file locking or a interbase bug ?

Hopefully someone can help me out !!

1) Why would you bring the Interbase Server down?

2) Every server has his own Interbase Server?, why ?

3) Why not using 1 Interbase server to serve all the applications? And use one Interbase Server/ windows server as a back-up?

4) Do you have a license problem?

Are these Interbase servers communicating with each other?

Are you a BBA, programmer, helpdesk, or a network administrator?

Hi degorn

1) what has happened recently that would be high on your checklist of suspects ? i.e. new hardware, new database mods - stored proc/query etc
2) does your InterBase log file have any entries that would indicate the source of the problem ?
3) how are your databases configured to handle the load, i.e. values for page size, buffers
4) what is your database maintenance schedule like ? regular IB backup/restore cycle to identify the more obvious nasties
5) how is your temp file storage configured ? disk space available for sort files/on a separate disk ?

I guess that another option would be to fire up the IB performance monitor and see what it returns.
