Hello experts!

I was assigned as an assistant on a project that is fairly complicated. I normally just do layouts, color schemes, image development and basic page coding, and client interaction. In other words, I am that artsy person programmers are usually "stuck" with.

The problem is that the lead on this project is suddenly out sick and we need to have an update soon. Since I only do very basic Flash elements, there is one part of the project that is way over my head, and it is the part I am going to have to show the client some progress on by Friday. It doesn't look like the lead is going to even be back by then, so I have to figure this out.

That element the client wants can be seen at the bottom of
My problem is that I can make images scroll with a stop/go action OR rollover, but not both. Also, I don't think the images should have to rollover using two sets of images, as I know there is an alpha function, but I can't figure it out. I also don't know how to begin the text pop-up on rollover, unless that is using another set of images.

Everytime I fix one thing, it breaks something else and it is making me insane! I know this has to be controlled by one or more action scripts, but I'm not sure what they would be or where they would go. Everything I've tried just doesn't work.

Thanks in advance and I hope someone can (and will) help!

Thanks David!

The fact that it only took 5 minutes (vs my 5 DAYS of failure) proves that is not my area! This means, of course, that even though you produced that brilliant example, when I switched it to the 800 pixel canvas size and altered the variables to match, it worked beautifully with yours and horribly with my images included.

Your canvas = 500, your images = 600, you test at 550 and set it back to -50. Unfortunately, I don't have nice, round numbers to work with. With all the images in place, the image "strip" is 1650, canvas is 800. The strip is actually 3 groups of 4 images (grouped prior to import), with 3 related text fields. I switched the total to 3, the text array to 4 (including the empty one), made sure everything referenced instance img1, img2, img3. Then I used canvas = 800, test at 750 and set it back at -50. It did not work.

I next tried testing at 1550 (since yours differs by 100), testing at the exact width - 1 image width, etc. It is always gapped or the next image "snaps" into place.

Obviously, my math must be as poor as my flash skills, because I cannot figure out how to re-create the circle...

I even broke it down further to where there were six groups of 2 images, resized it to "round numbers" and more. There is always a snapping action and/or gap.

Hi Dave,

I have posted the example here:
In this example, I kept all images separate (which makes a lot of repetition in the text array).

Ideally, it would be the first four as a single clip with the first message, the second four with the second message and so on. They will eventually need to be hyperlinks to separate movies, as well.

It looks like I may end up having to finish the whole project by myself, as the lead has been scheduled for gall bladder surgery, so if you have a tip on that hyperlinking, please let me know!

If you want the images and fla, I can email those to you.

Thanks again! You really saved my life!

Dave,

I am trying to follow this thread, for I, too, need a gallery of images to scroll. But your link example is not available?

Thanks.
