Hi,

To say I'm a little rusty with my VBA would be an understatment now. I've also been tasked with creating a Database that interacts with a Rumba screen and basically screenscrapes and also sends data to the screen.

I have no clue on how to interact with the mainframe screen. I've tried a few searches with no luck so far. Anyone able to give any pointers?

Cheers ^^

Forgot to mention, Access2000, running on Win2000 & RumbaV6

If you are using an emulator on a PC as your "terminal" to the mainframe, the emulator may have functions for doing the screen scraping.

Typical, I asked the IT guys who support this... 'We don't know, that's not been tried here before and we dont have a manual around'

Handy! :(

Do a google search for a manual for your emulator.
If unsuccessful, can you use a different emulator program?

tried google with no luck... also have emailed the company and hoping they get back to me at some point. Work aren't being forthcoming with the ability to use another emulator program. Shame, as I know how to do this with attachmate (nice big section in this forum pretty much on that as it is!).

I mean, you try to do your job and it seems everyone in the company you work for just block that! Gotta love big business.

That's why I went independent!

Just make sure you document what you think you require to accomplish the task, and send that to your immediate superiour. If any one blames you for "holding up" the project, you have your evidence to the contrary.

Luckily this is something I'm doing off my own back for brownie points (and if it saves the amount of time I expect it to save in tests I'm going to see if I can get something extra out of them for this).

Though saying that, I have documented the lack of help from the so called IT department. I mean, the technical teams saying 'we don't know, don't care and don't have a manual you can look at' isn't good enough imo. I'd get a right bollocking if I talked to any of my colleagues like that.
