Interacting with a Win2003 DC

I have a small domain. The DC is running Windows 2003. A second server that is running W2K, has Exchange 5.5 running on it.

I have a situation in which I would like to raise the forest/domain functional levels on the Windows 2003 DC from 0 (Windows 2000 Mixed) to 2 (Windows Server 2003).

My assumption is that there will be no adverse affects to my exchange 5.5 by raising the functional levels on the DC. Can someone confirm that the functional level of the DC is irrelevant to an Exchange 5.5 server on W2K?
