Hello,

I'm located in Germany where I have 2 DCs;
all others countries (spain dutch, swiss, italy,...) are also in the active directory but don't have a DC; I put their IP range in my site in Germany; so that when they log on, they are authenticated in my site in germany;

I would like to create a site for each country; 1 site for spain, 1 site for italu,...) and create an inter-site transport between GERMANY and ITALY, an inter-site transport between GERMANY and SPAIN, ....)

My qyestion is to know if we need to have a DC in the country(italy,spain,...) to create a "inter-site transport"
? if not, how does it work ?

Thanks

You don't have to have a DC in the country - BUT - the purpose of having sites (within a domain) is to control replication traffic over a wide area. It allows you to set replication schedules, bridgehead servers, etc. If all your DCs are on your local network then the only advantage you will gain from setting sites is to be able to set site level GPOs.
