There are 2 DCs in the domain. Both are 2003 R2. The primary one (which has all the roles) has been acting up lately. Sometimes I cannot conenct to it by rdp. I can add machines to the domain (as I have the second DC), but I cannot rename domain machines as it says that the directory service is not running. When I log in to see whats wrong, it does not load explorer.exe. I have manually run it from the task manager. After that the network connection seems to be okay and I am able to rdp to the machine as well as change names of domain machines. I check the event log and under system, I see a lot of
10016 and a few 5513 errors. It says something about CLSIDs not having enough permission. Should I try to locate them using dcomconfig and give each of the mentioned CLSIDs enough permissions? Nothing much has changed on this machine. Of course, I make sure it is up to date with all the security patches. Also, I upgrade to SP2 on this machine a month or so back. Not sure if it started happening after that.
What could be wrong? Please advice.
