I am trying to set up IDR in 10d on one of my servers. From what I've been reading, backup exec must do a complete backup of the hard drive before you can actually create the disaster recovery media. I guess if you don't do a complete backup the IDR file isn't created. I'm a little confused. Currently we only backup critical files like SQL databases, exchange server, shadow copy information and other pertinent files. Even though we don't backup every file on the server, an IDR file was created. However the file is less than 100k. Is it critical to do a backup of every single file on the hard drive before creating the IDR recovery media? I'm not sure how we could do that since we don't have open file option and we would probably have many files fail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
