Hi there, currently running a server in a supermicro case, it has intel dual xeon 2.6's... the one thing that I am noticing is that the case is giving off harmonics, or atleast which I first suspected. opening the case more, I learnt the sound was coming from the heatsink's and fans, when I would press down on the outer fan area I noticed the harmonics a little less, when I would let go it would make louder harmonics, it's hard to describe the noise, like a "wobbleing". Has anyone else had this problem or experienced anything like this? should I warranty my CPU fans? or is it because these fans are so powerful?

Regards,
Jordan

we tested a supermicro server for a rollout and weren't happy with the build quality power supply problems and RAID didn't work so I'm not surprised you're having probs. We went with HP dl380 G3 in the end.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

Well it could be that the case is giving off the harmonics of the CPU fans? as far as replacing this server, that is not do-able. Im wondering if anyone here has experienced the same wobble-humming sound?
