Well, they have been out a few months now, I've always used macs and I am starting up a new art dept. soon.
I will have to buy new hardware. our basic software is Adobe CS2. I am looking at Mac Quadpro's, does anyone have any feedback on Macs intel and photoshop for example. Either my timing or Macs timing is creating quite a dilemafor me!
I would really appreciate anything you might have to say.
Thanks GAry

It at all possible, I would go to an Apple store and try them.. The demo machines have all the creative type apps, like photoshop, etc. At least they did when I was in an Apple store, last December.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

You bet your buns JM, I am definitly going down to the village store. I am just looking to see if any of you pro's had any positive or negative experiences, that I could look out for! thanks for responding mate,
GAry

I realize this message is a little old now but I just bought five new Mac Pros. They are the "bottom of the line" 2.0 GHz machines with "only" 1 GB of RAM. They are running CS2. I have had zero issues with Photoshop, although the users aren't doing anything heavy with them. But they do use Photoshop all day to at least look at images and resize them. I have had a few other interesting issues. I just got them installed so I am still figuring some of them out. I don't notice any speed problems, although these users were upgrading from 700 MHz or so G4s. But they aren't unbearable, which is what a lot of whiners online said. I can do some specific filter tests if you haven't already gotten new machines.

The message is not too old. The topic will still be relevant for some time.

Whiners may have been justified in earlier releases of OSX 10.4. With each new update to 10.4, we are seeing improvements in how Rosetta handles PPC-based apps.
