Intel Anypoint wireless

i just bought an Intel Anypoint wireless card off of ebay. it is on it's way, but i am curious if this card needs to use an intel anypoint wireless gateway/router? or will it work with any wireless access point? if anyone knows about these cards, or any card in general, i would appreciate it. i haven't set up a wireless network before, only a wired network.

the reason i ask this question is because of this statement in the description of the card: "everything you need to connect one laptop PC to an AnyPoint Wireless Home Network." i don't know if it will work if i am not setting up an "Anypoint home network"...

Prior to WiFi I used the Intel Anypoint wireless home network equipment. It ran as 1.6Mbps with proprietary software which was quite a bear to setup and use. When it ran it actually worked quite well. However, for reliability, speed and ease of use WiFi is the way to go.

And no, the Anypoint is NOT compatible with WiFi and I don't know if there is an AnyPoint access point.
I have a pcmcia car and two USB adapters available for Anypoint if you (or anyone) are interested. Just make me an offer if you are.
