I am completely new to linux. I have installed a few different distro, but this is the first that I've kept for more than a day.
I am using Kubuntu (the KDE version of Ubuntu). Everything worked perfectly out-of-the-box, except for the graphics driver. I have a Dell 700m laptop, and its screen resolution is 1280x800, however I only have the option for 1024x768 in Kubuntu. In the xorg.conf file, the mode shows 1280x800, but I don't have the setting option.
I downloaded the driver from intel, but it seems the instructions are for Suse or Fedora. The command starts with rpm, and ubuntu doesn't recognize that.
I am a complete and total newbie, so please be gentle and explanatory.
Thanks,
Joe
