I am a PC network administrator working in an Architectural office. Lately we are becoming more and more reliant on graphics software and I am starting to research the best (most water-tight) ways of integrating Macs into our NT PC network. We already have a couple of Macs in the office but I see possible problems with them accessing our Exchange data base etc. as well as just being able to share network files etc.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some relevant essays/forums which may be able to assist me in the finding the best way to integrate these two platforms.

Thanks

Nick

Windows 2000 server is the best for the macs if you go for a NT solution. NT 4 works OK but it will not report the correct amount of free disk information without some messing around.

Exchange is easy you can down load a copy of Microsoft Outlook 2001 beta. It works the same way as the windows version.

Data base stuff you have to use Filemaker Pro, Access is not on the mac.

If you have a look at Mac + NT4 question on this forum, it will tell you how to get folder sharing working.

Best of Luck

I recommend getting DAVE from Thursby Software, The software enables Macs to connect to NT network just like any Windows client. File sharing is a matter of drag and drop. You may be able to use the cheaper version of DAVE, MacSoho. Also check out for lots of resources about making Mac and Windows co-exist.
