In the past, crystal has always been backwards compatible on being able to read old reports and save into the newest format.. (was this way when i worked for crystal at least). There are sometimes drawback to this though in that when crystal goes through major modifications in a version upgrade, your report may sometimes run slower or the physical size of the report becomes larger. This is because when the conversion process takes place, there are certain aspects of the old report that must be kept and reused, leading to less efficiency. Also, make sure you keep old copies of your reports if you wish to go back to V7 as once the report is converted, there is usually no turning around. (V 8.XXX) let you export into V7, but I am unsure about the new V9 crystal.
