Hi all,
how can i integrate 3rd party data (e.g. from other monitoring tools, commercial or custom) into OpenView?
Of special interest is the creation of a new service icon in Service Navigator, like some SPIs can do.
Do i need the Operations Developer's Toolkit for it (especially the Legacy Link API) or is it possible, to integrate the data on a "normal" way, w/o special developer's workarounds?
What i know is, that it's not possible (or allowed) to write directly to the Operations database.

Thank you very much
Christoph

Hi there Cristoph, there are always workarounds, depending on the enviroments or applications, to go for...

Any new service icon has to be configured through the xml skeletons or scripts that come with the product and opcsv to reload the scripts.

Regarding the integration with any scripts, shell scripts, third party applications, everything is really easy if you have VPO agents installed under the box where you want to run customized scripts, is it the case?Or you want to send messages/alarms from a node which doesn't have agents installed?

Hope this helps, regards,

Hi vlan52,
it's more or less about sending alarms from nodes w/o agents. Additionally the alarms could stem from monitoring systems rather than monitored systems, e.g. the monitoring system checks some (for us) important parts of the whole system and generates an alarm if something failed.
