How can I integrate a printer to accept an online food order directly to the printer, without going thru the Micros POS?

Its going to depend on the online ordering package you're using. If the orders aren't going through your POS, then the print job will have to come from somewhere else. You probably won't be able to use an existing Micros printer; their print jobs come from the Micros workstations.
The only way I can see using an existing printer is if you have IP printers. They may be able to accept a print job from a second source, but you'll need the drivers and some kind of software to format the print job.

You can have other systems write to the printer if you use a system called OPOS - that is Open Point of Sales Connectivity. Refer to Wikipedia for details. This is a WIN32 standard. The device must have an IP board and address also so it is independant from the Micros system.

The device must be set up as an OPOS device in Configurator device table.

Therefore ANY system can write to it.
