Hi all,

I've been hunting high and low for a solution which will allw me to view my project tasks from within the my outlook calendar. Yes you could sayt this is quite lazy, but like most people the first thing I open in the morning is Outlook to check mail and having my project tasks in my Outlook calendar would be a nice feature.

Yes, I know you can do this with ease when deploying Project Server 2003 but, like an awful lot of companies out there, we are not using Project Server and probably never will purely because of the cost implication involveds - plus we're running Linux servers here.

Does anyone know of any third party add in's which will allow me to do this? I've had a look like I say but can't find aynthing.

Thanks for reading. Kind Regards

Have you checked out taskLynx?
They have a nice little app for $99 that syncs project with outlook tasks and allows you to assign the tasks to other outlook users. Then sync their status updates back into project.

They don't have a trial, but for $99 bucks we're going to give it a shot this week.

You can do this with WorkGroups, a module of MS Project. Do a search on Project help for 'Email WorkGroup'. Its a little sticky to set up, but I think it will send a task by email and if accepted then puts into Outlook task list.

From HELP:
"Set up an e-mail system for team collaboration

To use an e-mail system to send and receive team collaboration messages, you and your team members need to run WGsetup.exe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Copy the entire WGsetup folder, found on the Microsoft Project CD-ROM, to a network drive that can be accessed by everyone with a MAPI-compliant, 32-bit e-mail system.
2 If necessary, you or the team members can connect to the network drive that contains the WGsetup folder by using Microsoft Windows Explorer.
3 In the WGsetup folder, double-click WGsetup.exe, and then follow the instructions when prompted."
