In Macola 7.6.300 SQL on an win2000pro 2.8ghz with 500meg PC, when the Crystal Integrated reports are selected in Macola they take about 4 seconds to pop up the "Choices Screen" and then run as they should.

On my newest win2000pro PC's Pentium 2.8ghz with 1gig of ram when the Crystal Integrated reports are selected in Macola they take about 25 seconds to pop up the "Choices Screen".

I have set the SQL client as TCPIP only and named the SQLserver as recommended by Exact.

Any thoughts?

While setting up a new PC to be able to export a PDF of a crystal report out of Macola I tried various ideas that were given in another thread.

After uninstalling Crystal and reinstalling the Macola Client a number of times NOW that PC loads Crystal in 4 seconds rather than its original 25 seconds.

I just can not come up with the sequence of install and uninstall to make all of the new PC's load Crystal Quickly.

I hope someone here has run into this issue in the past.

Were the _data_xx_isolve data sources created on the workstations when the macola client install was done? ICR needs those data sources to operate. Did you do full sql client install or client connectivity tools only? What version of crystal? Are you installing crystal locally or as a client from a network install? It sounds like you have a conflict with a microsoft component that loads when the ICR filter screen is trying to load from the VBA layer which will ultimately bring up the choices screen. You can get a dll viewer & compare the dlls loading successfully on a WS with one that is not. Then you can determine if you can copy over dlls from another workstation, or you may be able to figure out which app installed the correct dlls needed to load the choices screen faster.

The Crystal Integrated reports that are taking about 25 seconds to pop up the "Choices Screen" are on PC's with NEW clean installs of Windows 2000 pro with all updates. After that SQL client is installed and the drive is mapped next I install Macola and do an immediate restart. I then open Macola and select one of the Crystal Integrated reports. That is when it takes about 25 seconds to pop up the "Choices Screen". The _data_xx_isolve data sources were created and are showing in the ODBC administrator.

On one machine after that initial install is when I started Installing and uninstalling Crystal and Macola with the end result being the time to start the Crystal Integrated reports dropped to 4 seconds.

One slight correction: those data sources are actually _data_xx_mssql and they are not created by the client install, they are created the first time you log into that company, on that workstation.

Jere, what version of Crystal do you use internally? Also what version of the ICRs (7 or 8.5) are you using?

I use version 8.5 of Crystal, but it is not installed on the workstations.

I also have not done any modifications to the Macola default ICR's and I believe they are Version 8.5, How can I tell for sure?

But Again, some workstations load the ICR's very fast and others load the ICR's Very slow.

It could be a path statement issue. You could compare the path statement from a workstation that's loading fast with one that's not.

Right click on My Computer, properties, advanced tab, environment variables and down below you'll see the path statment.
