There have been occasions over the last couple of months where I've been presented with the message 'Insufficient memory for this operation' when working with the BDE through Delphi and / or SQL Explorer.
I found a suggestion on a website to increment the 'SHAREDMEMSIZE' value through BDE Administrator.
Would this be a sensible thing to do ?
It was previously 2048 - I upped it to 4096 following the suggestion.
Would it be sensible to do this on all client machines to prevent any potential memory problems (bearing in mind network traffic and the likes) ?
Is there a suitable value we should be aiming for dependent on the memory on the client machines ?
Any advice here would be welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Steve

hi Steven

Have you checked if the app is cleaning up properly? I get this error when I keep creating stuff and not freeing, slowly eating memory until it does a query with a large dataset, then it occurs. Also on the occasional crash and rerun has caused it.
