Sometimes our users get disconnected. Is there anyway to set Instant Messenger to automatically reconnect? Or to check if it's connected every few minutes?

I've tried re-setting up IM and also EXCH2K SP3 applied again but still no luck.

When everyone 1st logs in it's fine, but if they sit idle or leave for the night.. it gets disconnected. But they forgot to reconnect. Is there anyway to force it to always connect?

Running Win2k Adv SP3 and Exch2k SP3 with the latest Instant messenger clients.

Are they getting disconnected or are they just Appearing Offline? We are having this problem in our organization currently. We are running the same configuration that you mentioned. There is no rhyme or reason to why they appear offline. No one seems to have a solution either..

Hard to say, sometimes it's both.
Usually they are disconnected and the little green man has the red x next to him.
Other times they are on but appear offline, and the only way to see them is for myself to sign off, then on again. Kind of like to refresh it... strange!
I would love to find a solution as we rely heavily on IM for communication and messages to each other. And sometimes people forget to check if it's signed on and we can't get ahold of them.

Thanks for your advise.

We tried IM with Exchange here for about 3 months and we had all the problems yall had. Its just VERY flaky. If you need to depend on an IM i would get AOL INSTANT MESSENGER. Its good and its free!

From what I understand IM is not a part of Exchange Titanium (2003), so it really is pointless to roll it out in our environment. Our deployment was a departmental one.. It looks like I will wait and see what Greenwich server has to offer.

Yeah i hear they canned the free version of IM and will be coming out with a corporate pay version sometime soon.

Oh ok, I thought I was having problems but it looks like everyone is in the same boat. I can't believe they are going to make you purchase that seperately haha! AOL IM here we come.. :)
