I made an installation setup for Access application using xp developer. It works fine on xp machines but gives error for msadomd.dll on older version (like windows 98). I found it is due to older version of mdac. I did installed new mdac (v 2.8) and installation worked.

Now my question is how can i make installation package to include MDAC 2.8?

I was thinking of some batch file to run before my setup. Did anybody have ideas or sample how to do this?

if you want this only to run on particular versions of Windows I dont think you can do this with the developer installation setup, if you want to do this it would be easier to either use a custom installation tool, or to create a batch file that tests for the version of windows and then runs the main install.

Thanks gavjb,

I like your idea of batch file. Can you provide more information on how to check for windows version in batch file.

Look up installer2go. it's great i use it for my installations that include batch files, and all sorts of modifications. it's cheap and they have good support. there is also good help for using it on the internet.
