Hey there everyone, so i've been working on this for a few days and am getting really annoyed so i'm asking for help. i have a gateway mt6840 laptop which originally had vista on it, the vista wasn't working out so i'm putting xp on it.
i've tried the sata controller drivers that gateway specs say i should use and they copy originally but when installation of xp starts it gives an error about not being able to find or copy the drivers or some nonscence. i have also tried the other mobile drivers in the same download bundle to no avail, so unless i'm missing something, thats not working, i also have available a desktop computer with sata capabilities and a sata to usb adapter so if that is an option it's available. and i have installed xp onto the drive from the desktop and it works on the desktop but when i put it back into the laptop it bluescreens which makes scence because of the drivers missing for the board, but i dont' know if i could switch the drivers from the intalled ones to the ones for the laptop.

Thanks for any info about this.

Well as it turns out i'm a genius haha :), i've got it taken care of. I just had my desktop uninstall the ide controller driver it has used for the desktop mobo, and then told it to use the driver for the laptop mobo, put it back into the laptop and viola, so releived.
