I am reasearching how to install NTP on 7 unix servers all running 2.6. Would it be beneficial to me to have a central NFS mounted volume and install it once or will each machine need a separate configuration? Of course since I've never installed this before, do you have any last minute suggestions, comments, tips for NTP? Would you recommend this version over XNTP from sunfreeware.com?
Thanks!
Steve

You could set XNTPD on one server and then simply use a cron job on the others that runs 'rdate server1' .

To set it up on the first server (or on all of them if you prefer)
Create a ntp config file '/etc/inet/ntp.conf' with the following
server <timeserver1> prefer
server <timeserver2>
driftfile /var/ntp/ntp.drift

run the ntp deamon '/usr/lib/inet/xntpd'

check that /etc/rc2.d contains a S74xntpd file. This will restart NTp after a reboot.
