Installing WS2003 at home for SharePoint

I am installing Windows Server 2003 at home to experiment with SharePoint Services, which I will install afterwards.
This is my first time with Windows Server 2003 and I need recommendations regarding the configuration, as there are a number of different options.
I just need to run SharePoint Services locally or maybe with laptop networked with it, I'm not sure.
I would appreciate your advice.
