I am running Win2K and the OS crashed. I have my HD partitioned into two. It is a Maxtor 20GB. I used the Win2K boot disk and tried to repair the operating system. It did not work. I then formatted drive C with fdisk and attempted to reinstall Win2K using the boot disk. I get the message that the drive does not exist. When I boot with a 98 startup disk, drive C is there and the Win2K boot disk puts the files on it. Any suggestions on how to reinstall the OS.

When you say crashed...fill in some blanks there.

Any error messages when it did? What were you doing when it crashed?

You didn't format with fdisk (just a technicality) but if you can get into the system with the Win2K boot disk...what does fdisk /status return?
The files that are there have the new date on them?

Will the Win2K install let you boot to Safe Mode?

I'm suspicious you may have hardware or other problems...
but need more details...

Here's a link to the recovery routine from M$:

boot from w2k install disk (ie, change bios settings to boot from CD) - follow instructions.
