I am going to be taking out old digital TN754B boards and replaceing them with new digital TN224CP 2 wire digital boards. I have vacated all the old digital boards. What is the process for replacing old 4 wire digital boards with new 2 wire digital boards?

Thanks in advance,

change stations to xports.
list config board xxxx on old tn754 and make sure all 8 ports show "u"
list mark and make sure no ports are marked.

If ports show "t" or "p" turn off tti. Then remove board when all ports show "u"
after boards are unplugged, verify that "change circuit-pack xx" shows blank where boards used to be or blank them out and submit.

plug in new tn2224, and now you can turn tti back on and or change stations to the new board.

We are also in the process of replacing our older TN 754 (and associated older telephone sets) with TN2181 and TN2224 cards and 64XX phones we are reusing from equipment in locations no longer in use.

Is this procedure of turning TTI off before inserting the new board necessary if all phones have been removed or wired to other ports on other cards?

When tti is turned on, all unassigned station ports become tti / psa ports. If you don't turn tti off, which changes the ports from "p" or "t" to "u", the boards cannot be removed from software.

In older loads on legacy platforms, removing the circuit-packs and then turning tti off can cause software corruption on all of the ports.

When ports have "t" or "p" they provide dialtone so stations can merge or associate to them. These software ports also share records in software with real stations that are programmed as "X" ports. When corruption occurs, it is not only with unused tti / psa ports but station records as well.
