Hello -

I am wondering on how to properly install Terminal service Manager (120 Eval) onto my Win2k3 server where I can allow more than 2 simultaneous sessions open. I have 2 managers and roughly 6 consultants that will need access to this server -periodically more than 2 sessions will need to be open ofcourse.

When you run the initial install, there are two ways to setup the temporary CAL.. one is for by user and the other is by device.. which is correct based on my scenario? also would I need to populate these specific users in the Remote Desktop Grp locally on the server? or does this not matter..

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and have a great weekend

The licensing method doesn't really dictate how many sessions can be open at a given time. Terminal Services needs to be installed in Application Mode instead of Remote Administration mode.

Users would need to be members of the RDU group.

Thank Pat-

That makes sense.. Where do you essentially see either App or Remote Admin mode.. what I mean is -at what part of the install, all I saw was a prompt for which CAL type to use.. but not the other Application or Remote mode that you speak of.. is it at the beginning of the install.. I would probably need to uninstall and then reinstall TSM in order to make sure of the mode.. correct?

Thanks for any info

IIRC, it's when you install TS on the server through ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS>WINDOWS COMPONENTS>TERMINAL SERVICES.
