hi,
i am trying to install sybase database
and in the instructions i got this instruction.
the problem i am new with AIX
can someone explain to me how to do this?
or what is that mean?

Configure the user root to execute the user sybase's .profile file on startup. This is required to install and run WebSphere Application Server.

Each user has a file called .profile in its home directory. This file sets up the environment for the user at login time - things like variable settings etc. You should have a file called /home/sybase/.profile .

The instructions sound as if you need to execute this for root, in which case you would have a line in root's .profile like so:
. /home/sybase/.profile

I would not suggest you try this without talking to your software supplier, though. If there is any problem with sybase's .profile, you could end up with situation where you couldn't login to root.
