I already have the Management Studios installed on my PC so I can work on the database which sits on the Server computer. Now I got the Developer edition. Should I install it on top of the existing software, or I should remove existing software and then install the Developer Edition?

Also, I guess, after the installation, I should see two severs in the management studio, the one sitting on my PC and the one sitting on the Sever computer, right?

You can simply install over the current managment studio.

After you install the developer edition do not forget to install the service pack.

You may need to manually register your workstation in the registered servers list.

Ideally you will install the same service pack on your developer edition that matches your production server.
