Good day all.

Tasked with installing SQL Srv 2012 on a VM. Never done it before. I read this article on SQLMag. Any pitfalls to be aware of?

Thank you and have a great day!

I have installed SQL 2012 on several VMs before. Main pitfalls are making sure that the disk storage backing up the VMWare/hyperV server is fast enough. I have had a few cases, where the VM admins have shifted me off to SATA drives, and performance suffered noticeably.

My SQL Server ISO file keeps disappearing from a folder on the VM. Weird!

That is very odd. i don't suppose you have "hide system files" enabled, or something of the sort? It is definitely gone with the diskspace freed up?

This is a 500Gb drive\partition or whatever it is called on a VM...You put the file there, a few seconds later it's gone. Hell, I even deleted and copied the whole folder. The file goes away and the folder remains. Strange!

Apparently they disappeared when I dragged and dropped them...Copy and paste kept them there.
