Hi,

I wonder if anyone has any sucess on installing Solaris x86 onto a DL360 G2.

I'm using the 2/02 CD's downloaded from the Sun web site. The Dl360 has a single processor and two 36gig drives in a RAID 1+0 configuration and the system type is set to Soalris using SS 5.4.

I've downloaded the Soalris drivers update from the Compaq web site, v1.60a (SP19622.exe)

I've tried booting off the Solaris installtion CD and had no luck, but reading the Compaq website the recomend using the Software CD1 if you have an Array 5i controller.

So booting of the Software #1 CD it goes through the Solaris install, i do F4 and use the driver disk for the ethnernet NIC and the Array 3rd Generation disk for the 5i controller. I get a couple of resource conflicts on ACPI's, but it lists the ethernet controller and disk array correctly in the hardware screen. I select the CD for the kernel source and set the language & locale to English. I bypass the kdmconfig and go to the Identifying the system section were i say yes to Network Conectivity, set the card to use DHCP and the primary card to be BME0. Select no to IPv6 and confirm the information. I then get a please wait message and then a core dump with the following message.

Assetion Failed: Have_ext_net_info(nc)==TRUE,file.c,line 931 Abort Core Dumped

And the install goes no further :)

I've also tried using a DCA floppy disk for the installer program and adding the line setprop acpi-user-options '0x2' to the bootenv.nv file. This stops the ACPI error messages but i still get the core dump.

Anyone got any idea's ?

Don't worry I've got passed that problem :)

There appears to be a problem with the Jumpstart installer on 2/02 for x86 & Sparc. I needed to use a static IP address instead of DHCP and the installer carried on instead of core dumping.

If anyone else is having the same problems. Then my so far sucessful install was done with the DCA floppy disk with setprop acpi-user-options '0x2' added to the bootenv.nv file. I also have the Software CD#1 in the CD drive for the kernal source and not the installation CD.

(Very confusing the fact that you can install it without using the install CD)
