Is it is possible to install an Avaya IP softphone application on a MAC system?

User trying to load IP softphone on a MAC with dual OS platforms (Windows, Novell). Client can use softphone on a Windows platform. Are there any known conflicts with MACs? When user tries to user IP softphone on a MAC, gets the following error message: The application encountered network address port translation while communicating with the server. You cannot log into the server over a network where network address port translation is enabled. Contact your system administrator for more information.

Avaya stated they do not support IP sofphone/Agent on Mac systems. They did not give me a valid reason so I don't know if the rep I got was blowing me smoke and didn't want to help.

Avaya does not write the software to be compatible with OS X, OS X does not support TAPI and like most phone systems the software and technology is very proprietary and to be really honest written for the masses (XP, Vista... MS).
