Wow!

I did this and then couldn't access any of my websites, including our corporate intranet and web-based company time clock. Talk about unhappy users!

I had installed it as a single server. I uninstalled it and that got everything back to normal. I think...

Anyway, it looks like a really cool web app and I'd like to install it and access it thru a link on our corporate intranet but installing it disables the intranet!

Is there a way to install Sharepoint 3.0 so that it peacefully coexists with IIS? I've searched this forum and googled the topic extensively but just can't get a good answer.

I tried this:

before uninstalling but still couldn't get it to work correctly.

If anyone has done this before are has any other insights I'd sure be appreciative to hear what you think.

Thanks In Advance

Change the default IIS website to port 81 then install sharepoint. You will then access sharepoint by and the default IIS site by thats how I did it anyway.

it'll never work in my organization unless i go to 300 different desktops and change their fav's and desktop shortcuts.

would be an option though if i could get that to work.

Well I wanted sharepoint on port 80 but I would think you could do the process I stated above. Then change the sharepoint website to port 82 or whatever and change the default IIS website back to port 80. Might be a bit more to it than that but I bet its do-able.
