I purchased a T1 Services Card that I need to put into my MICS 6.1 (with a CP 150). Do I need to shut down the system to install it? If so, how do I do a "safe" shutdown? Thanks!

Norstar says that if you just pull the power and plug it in again it is a warm start and will not lose data. Your configuration will change and there will be DN's assigned for modules 3 and 4, there will be a gap in the default numbering because the system already assigned DN's to the B2 channels of the existing 32 stations so your first station on the fiber will be out of sequence. you can correct that with "Change DN" in programming.

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

I'm a little confused as to why it would impact the DN setup... here's what I have

KSU Slot 1 - empty (putting services card here)
Slot 2 - 6 port combo (port 1=trunk mod with 2 0x4 analog cards, port 2,3=empty port 4=analog sta mod 5,6=regular station mods
Slots 3,4 - DTI cards

Should I put the combo in slot 1 and the services in slot 2?

dummy me, I cannot keep posts straight. I was refering to a 2 port combo. sorry. the services card does go in slot 1. it will not affect port numbering, etc. but you will need to power it down to seat the new card in it. I would recommend a backup if you can do it though.

Okay got the card installed (I think)... is there any way to know if it is working, seated properly, etc.? The card status doesn't report it as being there (although it doesn't report my 6 port combo either). Ideas?

Not sure about any self testing for that. Were there any docs with the card?

First of all, a T-1 card and Services Cartridge are two totally seperate items. Which do you have? A t-1 card is actually referred to as a DTI card, or Digital Trunck Interface Card.

Bags,
Ianstein is adding a services cartridge and wondering if there is any indication that the card is operating correctly.

Also, if your putting in a service cartridge you don't need a combo cartridge. That's why it's called "combo" - service cartridge and fiber expansion combined. Vendor support could be very helpful here.

I already have a 6 port combo card... sorry for the confusion, what I just put in was a services cartridge (aka I believe a T1 services cartridge).. either way, I know it is not a DTI card (I have 2 DTI cards already). Just wanted to know if there was a way to verify that the serv cartridge is seated and working properly. I guess the best test will be when it gets busy and the system would otherwise freeze...

Exactly. If you are getting alarm error 63, one of your Services providing cards are not functioning properly. And 1weasel, it is recommended that if there is a second T-1 or PRI that you utilize 2nd Combo or Services Cartridge.

Well alarm code 63 just means there are not enough DTMF receivers to handle the traffic which could be due to a card not functioning, or just that there are not enough receivers to handle the volume.. In my case, I only had the combo card before so if it was not functioning, no calls would have come in. Once the phones start ringing off the hook, I'll know if the problem is solved...

Sorry,
I didn't see that were 2 DTI's installed.
