I downloaded server 2008 and am trying to dual boot with XP. XP is already loaded on and I am running the exe for server 2008 on a separate partition from XP. At the very end of the running the setup exe file for server 2008 I get the error message setup.exe is not a valid win32 application.

Any ideas of how to run this installation?

I apologize if I am reading between the lines, but it sounds like you are trying to run the setup.exe from within the Windows XP environment. You might want to reboot and boot off of the Server 2008 dvd to begin the installation. That could resolve your issue.

I can't understand why you would want to dual boot XP and Server 2008? With all the FREE virtualization tools out there these days there is really no need to dual boot.

Unless you have a compelling reason to do so, I would highly suggest downloading Virtual PC and installing Server 2008 as a VM.

You can download it for free from Microsoft

Alternatively you can download Sun's Virtual Box which is also free

I'm running Ubuntu Linux as my host here on my laptop with Virtual Box installed. I'm also running multiple Windows Server 2008, XP, and Vista VM's as guests.

You may have a good reason to dual boot, however I would go virtual
