Hi

I have been searching for this but havent found threads that matches my specific issue.

I'm going to install SBS 2003 on an server with Sata raid-10 and I have questions about the size of the partitions.
The total size of the raid-10 disk is 400 gb.

Total clients are 10...

This is what I have in plan for the server:

C: System drive 20 gb
D: Logfiles for Exchange 10 gb
E: Database files for Exchange, and common shared files such as XLS and PDF files

Or should I make a partition dedicated for Exchange database, if so how much space should I allocate?

Since I have a raid solution can I install one IDE (have one to spare) disk dedicated for the swap file only, would that increase server preformence? Or should i spend some more IT-budget money and buy another Sata disk?

We do 16GB for C:, with ALL SBS components (user folders, Exchange, clientapps, faxing, etc) being installed on D:

I'd double the d: drive you specify. At the very least. You can chew up a LOT of log space in the course of one day. More than you'd think.

So you recommend D: for all Exchange data/logs as well as ordinary shared files then?

If you've only got two drives, yes.

Well, I have 4 Sata disks on the server but they are mirrored in raid-10. So the only way for me to do this is to make more partitions for the logs and database (I'll buy another Sata disk just for windows swapfile so it doesnt get mirrored on all disks). But will that make Exchange/Outlook painfully slow or? ;)
