Hi we have some software on our server that we can access from some machines but not others ..
am I better mapping to the software or would it be just a case of creating a shortcut to the program? or is there something else I should be looking at?
Also installing new software to be accessed from the other systems on the network.. what would be the best way please?
I found a post regarding AD and software install, but what happens if AD is not installed?
As you've no doubt gathered Im not too up on this .. just had the job landed on me as being 'the man who knows all about computers! I wish!!)
many thanks ..

Hi,

I would try to figure out why those systems cannot access the software. Is there a client or some other setup that needs to be performed on those machines so that they can access the software? Does the software create any log files that you can examine for errors, or is there anything in the event viewer logs of the server or clients? Some applications allow themselves to be published in the directory, so that they can be searched for like other AD objects (users, printers). SQL Server is an example of this. Does your application allow you to do this?
