I am running the EVAL for BackupEXEC for WinsNT/2000 (V8.6). I also installed the remote agent for Exchange Server (backup failed). I am now being told by Veritas that I also need to install the REMOTE Agent for Windows NT on the Exchange Server box (wow). Can someone please confirm that cause now I am looking ay 3 pieces of sw so to make this work.
Note: I was able to get a BACKUP of the NT Server (PDC) but did not get one on the Exchange Server which is the 2nd box. Any info would be great cause I don't have a backup for the Exchange Svr.

Hey gomobile,

We just went through the same situation here. You need to purchase the Remote Agent Licenses for all NT servers that you will be backing up. You Also need to purchase the Exchange Agent License to be able to backup your Exchange server.

Without these licenses you will not be able to connect to the servers and perform backups.

Thanks for the feedback. How much more are we looking at $$$ (give and take) for the Remote Agent? Cause I do have two boxes off the PDC (exchange and a development box).

Hey gomobile,

The figures I am giving you are in Can$'s.

We purchased these just 2 weeks ago, so they should be current.

3 Backup Exec V8.6 NT/2000 Remote Agent Licenses....$675.00

1 Backup Exec V8.6 NT/2000 Exchange Agent License....$772.00

Not sure what it would cost for 1 Remote Agent license, but this should give you a rough idea.
