Installing quickbooks 2010 error 1402 1

I'm trying to install Quickbooks Pro 2010 on my windows xp sp3. When trying to install about 1/4 of the way through I get this error:
Error 1402: Could not open key

I tried the solutions listed here and nothing worked.

I really don't want to have to reinstall windows, can anyone help me out?

It sounds like there is a Registry Key access permission problem for your user. See if you can adapt this article?
