I need to create an app that will install a bunch of programs (IE, Acrobat, a few others) onto machines from a CD. we want a common interface of a button to click and all the programs will be sequentially installed. is this possible?

I know of a program that does this called Autoplay menu. According to their website at "AutoPlay Menu Studio is the quickest and easiest way to create professional AutoPlay/AutoRun menus for CD-R, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM." When the user inserts the CD into the CDROM drive it automatically starts up and displays a menu so they can select what they want to install, run, view, and etc.

Maybe this is what you are looking for?
