Sorry cannt remember who origanally wrote an article on installing phone manager 3.2 via gpo, however that worked fine for me up until the new releases of phone manager.

I can create the phonemanager.msi file and create the GPO however the software never installs. Has anybody else had a go and had any success?

Yep, works fine for me!

Is it one PC or many that you are having trouble with?

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

All PC's,

If i check the event log's it shows that the software policy has been applied but the software doesnt install.

Do you assign the policy to user or pc, however I have tried both an it fails? Can you confirm how you create the MSI file

To create the MSI file

I go to the user cd and navigate down to the PMP folder and double click the PMPsetup.exe file (or whatever it is called I can't recall precisely)

The install shield wizard starts and unpacks the MSI file. at this point I search Pc for Phonemanager.MSI and copy it from that location...

I usually copy it o a share on the server that has permissions for DOMAIN COMPUTERS security group to read.

I then build the GPO, using the GPO management tool. You also need to "Always install with elevated rights" for the windows installer (GPO setting)

The only way I have succeded in getting it to work is to set the policy to install from teh Computer policies (not user)

Also, you need to ensure that any previous installations of phone manager (and all other User apps) have been installed using the individual components rather that the User cd wizare (i.e. from pmp or SC folder not running setup from the root) If you don't it F****s it up big style.
