Hi,

I am trying to install Perl 5.8 on a FreeBSD server to run the latest version of AwStats.

However, all I get when installing this package using pkg_add -r perl is error that I can only imagine are due to some dependency issues.

I can't seem to find any notes on dependencies for perl, so am unable to install these.

To make things worse, this failed install has "broken" my ssl and our entire secure site no longer functions. I am also unable to revert back to the original version of perl.

Can anyone help either with the proper installation or with how to revert to the older version?

Thanks
Aaryn

AarynC,

Have you tried installing perl from the ports collection?

#cd /usr/ports/lang/perl5
#make install clean

post your error messages so we can see exactly what your problem is.
pkg_add -r perl > log.txt

Thanks Sera/Wishdiak

Unfortunately this was a live site and I eventually paid my host support to sort it out. Thanks anyway.
