I recently had problems with my modem, so I switched the moniter and modem cards and ports, then reinstalled the modem. Now the modem works great, but I recieve an error when turning my computer on. The computer cannot find the PCI driver, and it says that I need to install Win 98 disk. The problem is that my disk is badly scratched, and when inserted, causes a very loud noise from drive D. Is there any way I can bring up the PCI files, or reinstall the files from the bootup disk? Right now, the computer works fine, except that it is running in 16 bit format, so graphics are terrible. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Brigette Pinkard

The files you need are not on the EBD.

Best bet is to get someone to copy the same version for you.
You are allowed an archive copy without getting involved with the piracy issue.

One habit I've gotten into over the years is to copy the cab files from the WIN CD onto the hard drive. That way whenever I install new hardware or software that asks for the CD, I just point it to the cab files. I normally just copy the WIN98 folder from the CD to the hard drive at C:\win98. I have seen vendors copy them to C:\windows\options\cabs.
