I used WS_FTP95 to put some patches on my server. After I get the
patches on the server I tried installing the patches and cant get it to
install.

The steps I used included: unzipping it on my pc and then used the
WS_FTP95 and it shows up in my Solaris 7 directory as 104953-01

Here is the command I am using and the output:

#patchadd -p 104953-01

Patch: 105800-05 Obsoletes: Requires: 106125-05 Incompatibles:
Packages: SUNWadm
ap, SUNWadmc
Patch: 106193-03 Obsoletes: 106350-01 Requires: Incompatibles:
Packages: SUNWadm
ap
Patch: 105621-09 Obsoletes: 105686-02, 105845-01, 106064-01,
106075-01 Requires:
Incompatibles: Packages: SUNWcsr, SUNWcsu, SUNWnisu
Patch: 105393-07 Obsoletes: 106033-01 Requires: 105621-04
Incompatibles: Package
s: SUNWcsu
Patch: 105566-05 Obsoletes: Requires: Incompatibles: Packages:
SUNWdtdmn, SUNWdt
dst
Patch: 105464-01 Obsoletes: Requires: Incompatibles: Packages:
SUNWxwopt

Do I need to add all the other packages mentioned in this output to
get my package installed?

This is on a Sun Solaris 7.

I wouldn't try and install any patches onto any UNIX that I had previously opened on a PC. If you need to open the patch cluster in order to read the instructions or list, I'd copy the patch cluster and open the copy to get at this info. I'd also use binary FTP transfer every time.

Hope this helps
Ian

"IF" is not a word it's a way of life

The messages you got are mostly informative.
Here is the explanation of the messages :
Patch: is the patch it is installing
Obsoletes: is the list of patches that this one is repacing
Requires: List of the patches required before applying this patch
Packages : list of packages affected by this patch

So before you apply this patch , toyou must apply all patches specified in the required fields.

It is a good idea to look at the readme before installing any patch, all the above info is in the readme. Too bad I.T. is not cash business
